Everyone has moments in their life when they feel defeated.
At other times, some have moments when they feel like life is not worth living. You might be one of these people right now. Realize that in these moments, you can’t give up on yourself. You can’t give up on life. There is too much for you to accomplish, too many sunny days for you to miss, too many dreams that you have yet to achieve. So instead, have the will to push forward and to press through any challenge that you might be facing.
Know that any challenge you are facing, you have the strength and the power deep inside of you to overcome it. You have to have the will to win and to believe that nothing you are facing is greater than what lies deep inside of you.
These type of encouraging words are reflected in the poem below. It’s regularly quoted by renowned motivational speaker, Les Brown. We hope it will help you to remember that whenever you want to give up on life, have the courage not to do so.
The Will To Win
by Berton Braley
If you want a thing bad enough
To go out and fight for it,
Work day and night for it,
Give up your time and your peace and
your sleep for it
If only desire of it
Makes you quite mad enough
Never to tire of it,
Makes you hold all other things tawdry
and cheap for it
If life seems all empty and useless without it
And all that you scheme and you dream is about it,
If gladly you’ll sweat for it,
Fret for it, Plan for it,
Lose all your terror of God or man for it,
If you’ll simply go after that thing that you want.
With all your capacity,
Strength and sagacity,
Faith, hope and confidence, stern pertinacity,
If neither cold poverty, famished and gaunt,
Nor sickness nor pain
Of body or brain
Can turn you away from the thing that you want,
If dogged and grim you besiege and beset it,
You’ll get it!
