At times, the world feels like a pretty messed up place.
It’s easy to lose sight of the good.
It’s easy to lose faith.
Anger can set in when you think about all the harm that we have caused to each other,
The feeling of sadness can also arise when you think about someone killing a person’s brother.
We hurt each other so much
Tell each other so many lies,
Do we realize the harm we are causing?
The tears?
The cries?
It makes you want to give up on the world,
There’s so much negativity, so many lost souls that roam.
So many young people who have died as they were on their way home.
What’s causing the pain?
Is it the media?
Or our leaders?
Or is it something that we as a society are getting wrong?
Where have all of our morals and goodness gone?
We barely help one another.
We are to each our own.
We don’t help each other.
We steal from each other.
Hurt each other
Talk about each other… with no remorse.
Why is it that we praise the terrible, immoral things of our world?
And pay no mind to what’s true and good,
There are some who are trying to change the world
But then it seems like they get no recognition, no help when they should.
So then, the downfall of our humanity just continues and it’s felt.
So many feel so defeated,
so unhappy, so alone.
These are the moments when you want to give up on humanity,
Call it quits and go home.
These are the moments When you want to stop believing in the good that still exists,
And when you want to stop trying,
When you want to say that you don’t care, and this time you’re not lying.
But when you feel like you’ve lost faith in humanity,
and you can’t see the good in anything
Remember the goodness lies in you.
And this is not a myth, it’s true.
Every single piece of good you add connects to something greater and more.
Your life can help someone realize that there is still good in store.
Don’t lose faith in humanity,
It’s why you are needed to add to its cure,
Keep your life and your good works pure.
Remember, you are needed to help change this sometimes pretty messed up place.
Don’t ever lose faith yourself and in the progress of the human race.
