What We All Would Probably Like To Say To The Presidential Candidates

Candidates, are we in kindergarten or in the real world? I’m over this election and the sad part is, it’s hardly over.

This election is like a joke. I’m tired of the inappropriate bullying, the unnecessary banter, and the lack on focus on what’s important: the American people.

I feel like constructive dialogue on the real issues of the American people have taken a back seat at times during this election. Like filmmmaker Ken Burns said in a recent commencement speech to Stanford graduates, “…everything is going to hell in a hand basket.” Maybe literally.

Alright, here we go. For example, in his latest efforts of personal attacks, Republican nominee Donald Trump launched a website called, LyingCrooked Hillary.com, that alleges tons of untruths from Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton. Trump said the site would “showcase some of Clinton’s most disastrous lies to the American people.” Did he seriously go there?

Of course after all of the spiteful attacks, I can understand why you, Clinton, would keep defending yourself. Anytime someone takes a really spiteful approach to trying to completely ruin your name, I’m sure we all would take time to defend ourselves. But let’s make sure we don’t go down to their level. By doing so, what are we teaching the public or younger generations to do? I don’t know what to say…

Yes, I know elections are usually kind of harsh in terms of the backlash and how candidates treat each other. But this presidential race has taken it to a whole other level of rudeness, petty actions, and just downright cruelty.

Let’s refocus on why we have elections in the first place: to progress the lives of Americans and all of society. No matter who wins the White House, we need a person to stop obstructing good and instead, start making progress on many issues affecting Millennials and other generations. This campaign is not about “your wanting a greater position just to have one.” It should be about the American people.

It’s time to turn your campaign trails around. Your campaign need to be about what actions you are going to take for the betterment of the American people and our relations with countries around the world. That’s how you win our hearts and our favor. We don’t need anyone to do any more damage than what’s already been done from societal issues and more. We need you to say how you are going to go into the White House to fix things, to create positive change, and to really move the country immensely forward. That’s what we need.

I suggest you take more time to really get to know the issues impacting our country, and take less time to stop bashing each other. We are looking to you to be our leaders. This is not kindergarten when we are just playing “Follow the Leader.” This is reality and we need you to step up to acting like a leader.
