A lot of people relate healthy eating back to how it affects their health when they already have a health problem. Like for instance, a person who’s having elevated cholesterol would begin avoiding fatty foods. This person’s version of a healthy diet would be anything that stimulates him to cut his cholesterol levels. He may over-eat low-fat foods but accidentally start overeating high-carbohydrate-containing foods. This is because low-fat foods are in essence high-carb foods.

Healthy eating involves a safe slim diet that has a holistic health-enhancing effect. It should cause you to be healthy in all areas of your life. Unfortunately, good health can’t be measured directly. As long as your health is right, you won’t notice it. You will see it if your health deteriorates.

There are also additional signs of improved health such as high levels of energy, high alertness among other things.

Indirectly measuring good health

You can indirectly measure good health by keeping track of your body-fat levels. You can’t have low body fat levels without being healthy. Remember that having low body fat levels doesn’t mean having low a body weight. If you have low body fat, you are ripped. When you have low body weight, you are skinny and not necessarily healthy.

Why people can’t eat healthily?

There are three reasons why people can’t eat healthily. One reason is that they are merely ignorant. They aren’t aware of what food is contributing to their health and what is taking health away from them.

Another reason is that their lifestyle just doesn’t let them eat the healthy way. They could be missing meals or eating unhealthy food because they don’t have the time to do otherwise.

The last possible reason is that their hormonal system may be so interrupted that they tend to crave foods that are not. This is typical TO people with insulin resistance who continuously want refined carbohydrates.

Hormonal imbalance

One of the main reasons your health deteriorates is due to your out of whack hormonal balance. A number of individuals have insulin resistance where their insulin remains at unhealthy elevated levels. Women may have estrogen-progesterone imbalances. Unhealthy dietary habits mainly cause these.

Eliminating food deteriorating health

One of the easiest ways to be healthier is by eliminating foods that are making you unhealthy. These are primarily refined carbohydrates, foods containing trans-fats, calorie dense foods, liquid calories, and alcohol.

Taking concrete steps to reduce, if not fully implemented, these foods from your diet immediately put you on the path of enhanced health.

Simple Steps to Eating Healthily

The easiest way to eat healthily is by eating foods that are as close to nature as possible. It is better to eat an apple than drinking apple juice or eating apple pie. It is also better to eat fresh tuna than to eat canned tuna or fresh salmon instead of smoked salmon.

The macronutrient part of your diet should not come out of a box or a packet. In other words, you must eat fresh carbohydrates and protein. It is not avoidable to get condiments, sauces, and other stuff in bottles in these modern times. But as far as possible, the central part of the meal should be fresh and unprocessed.

A balanced diet should not be lacking any macro-nutrient. There should be a drive low carbs and high protein diet. This is not healthy just since it is not sustainable. However, if you’re one of those, who can sustain it for the rest of your life, by all means, go for it. The bulk of the people out there can only maintain these diets for a short duration, and when they come off it, they eat all sorts of unhealthy refined carbohydrates. This is where it becomes unhealthy. Eat more complex carbohydrates like fruits and vegetables instead of taking carbs out of your diet completely.

Your healthy diet must be something that you can live with for the rest of your life and not just another temporary fad.

Every case is different

There are no one-size-fits-all prescripts when it comes to eating healthy. You have to adhere to some underlying principles and adjust these accordingly to your body and lifestyle.  is important to know what healthy eating means. Only with adequate knowledge can you get sustainable weight loss.
