The older you get, the more you know that age is just a number. And living in the Information Age has made looking stylish at any age so much easier. But I’ve got a few favorites I’d love to share with you in this post.

Looking stylish isn’t always about what you wear; it is part of the battle, so let’s start with sartorial habits that present you at your stylish best!

1.  Put Personal Style Before Fashion

We all love fashion. But getting older means knowing yourself more fully. And as we come to know ourselves profoundly, we’re far less inclined to conform to the dictates of fashion. Instead, we learn to weave some of contemporary fashion’s messages into personal interpretations and statements. Take your pick from what’s hot at any women’s clothing outlet and own it! Your style makes any fashion trend better! Finding apparel that speaks to your individuality is key. If you’re seeking to make a statement, a Jesus-themed shirt might be the perfect addition to your wardrobe. This type of apparel featuring Jesus designs allows you to express your faith while staying true to your unique style. Whether it’s a casual t-shirt with a bold print or a more subtle, artistic representation, incorporating these pieces can make your personal style stand out and become a part of your fashion narrative.

2.  Love Being “You” Even More

Another great thing about aging is that your increased self-knowledge liberates you to love yourself. All that you’ve poured into your life and the truth you’ve lived are now coming to fruition and it’s spectacular!

Celebrate that hard-won self-love with monogrammed clothing that starts conversations, while announcing that you’re in the house! Or mark your next big birthday with a set of custom rings! Create a cherished family heirloom that passes your joy on to the next generation.

3.  Find the Fountain of Age

As I said above, style isn’t all about what you wear. That’s just the icing on the cake. And while sartorial presentation can be loads of fun as you get older, some of us are shy about going there.

Finding your personal fountain of age may be about discovering an art form, hobby, sport, or area of study you’ve lost track of in your life. Once we’re done with work, there’s a world of other opportunities to explore we suddenly have time for!

In the fountain of age, you’ll enjoy a richer phase of life. The depth of the experience informs your style and how others perceive it. As you drink of the fountain of age, you become more than you once were. You stop caring about external opinions.

4.  Free Your Head

The hair on your head is a glorious crown. Whether you choose to wear it long or short, rejecting salon or drugstore hair dye solutions is becoming a revolution among older women. Celebrities like Andie McDowell have bucked the system, revealing locks streaked with silver and gunmetal tones.

Freeing your head is a statement of personal confidence in your beauty. As we change into age and age into change, every adjustment is just another embellishment. Embrace that beauty of your silver crown. Own the time you’ve contributed to living this life and be the change you want to see with unapologetic style others will be eager to emulate.

5.  Take Control

You’ve lived too long to let someone else run your show, so take control. Your health and wellness shining from you with vitality contribute to a stylish appearance. A healthy body is a confident body and one that turns heads at any age.

Aging fabulously means upholding the pillars of healthy living:

  • Adequate water consumption
  • Regular exercise
  • Sound nightly sleep
  • Balanced nutrition
  • Healthy relationships

If these 5 priorities are managed in your life, everything else will (mostly) take care of itself. Simple formulas are usually the only formulas worth knowing. And they’re the ones most likely to maintain your energy at levels that support living life’s adventure to the fullest.

6.   Be Present

Being present is something we’re just learning how to achieve in the West. But the practice of mindfulness is about so much more than spirituality. Mindfulness encompasses your relationship with the world around you and the cultural currents that move through it.

In understanding these currents, you’re able to bring yourself into the world as it is – you’re part of it, not a spectator. Being present to the world is about living in the cultural moment, without feeling that you need to stand to one side as the young folk take up the torch.

Stay connected to the culture you live in and on cordial terms with it. Embrace what’s going on around you and you’ll never feel as though your nose is pressed up against the glass of life. You’ll be a stylish, vibrant part of the world you live in.

7.  Wear it Like You Mean It

Iris Apfel is an acknowledged fashion icon who’s proven to the world that wearing it like you mean it is for people of all ages. At 102, Apfel defines style, with advanced style now being a high-profile niche in the fashion world.

Wear that queen-sized bangle with the breathless cheek being older has bequeathed to you! Wear hats and gloves. Sport wildly contrasting patterns. Wear the perfectly mad Elton John glasses. Embrace the glory of a life lived for the joy of splashy sartorial fun. You’ll be inspiring the shy younger generations and perhaps appearing on international social media pages with the likes of Iris Apfel!
