The best way to improve your life is to let go of what you want.
Sounds incredibly counter-intuitive, especially coming from a High-Performance Coach, but if you hear me out (or read me out) then you will understand why I say this.
In the pursuit of our dreams we often get too serious about it. We put too much importance on the goal, thinking that once we achieve it we will finally have what we wanted for so long.
But because of this we put so much pressure on succeeding in it, working hard and getting it done perfectly that we forget why we wanted to do it.
Think about your life right now and ask yourself how much you are doing that you are not enjoying right now.
Then ask yourself, why do you do it?
You probably have no idea, but if I were to gander a guess, I would say that you started these things because you wanted something.
However, in your pursuit of it you lost the joy for it and are now stressed out by the things you are doing way more than you are excited about them.
That is why I say: “Let go.”
Let go of what you want to achieve and instead do the things you want to do because you like to do them.
Let go of the drive to get it all perfect and get it all right away and do what you can now.
Let go of all that stress and anxiety and just have fun.
The truth is that you are living now, and not in the future.
By the time you get to your goals you will be a different person with different ambitions and different desires. You may not even want it all then anymore.
On top of that, you will have spent years chasing some phantom that you never thought you could get.
Just look at you right now: How many things do you already have that you used to want before? Did they ever make you happy?
If not, then why are you still chasing the next thing?
Stop that chasing for just a second and ask yourself if this is really what you want.
You can still work hard, still chase your dreams, but do not do it because you feel you have to. Do not do it because you are scared of not making it; do it because you are excited to make it!
Do not force yourself to do these things, do not chase every silly little goal and especially not at the cost of your own happiness.
Let go of that pressure you put yourself under, and start doing things for the right reasons again.
You can improve your life in a second if you just let go of the need to achieve.
You do not have to do anything to be happy. You could be happy in this very moment and enjoy your life right now.
Take a deep breath.
Relax.
And start doing what you really want to do.
