Trying One More Time Is Always THE Only Option

“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.” ~Samuel Beckett

This post is for anyone who is on the brink of throwing in the towel on a dream, an invention, a pursuit, or a “destiny” opportunity. I was inspired to write this post after reading about people who we now consider to be some of the world’s most successful people and all the rejections they faced along their journeys. Here’s a roll call:

1. Inventor Thomas Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb until he finally nailed it.

2. Innovative animator, producer, entrepreneur Walt Disney was turned down 302 times before finally getting financing to create Walt Disney World (today that’s now “the”/ nearly “the” largest bulk of the company’s money).

3. KFC founder Colonel Sanders got rejected 1009 times before getting a backer for his famous chicken recipe.

4. J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter manuscript was rejected by 12 publishing houses.

5. Starbucks Chairman and CEO Howard Schultz was turned down by banks 242 times before launching Starbucks.

Feeling inspired after reading this?

The journeys and rejections of these people should ignite you. They should remind you that you will get knocked down time and time again in life. You will get frustrated. You will get tired. You will get mad. You will want to give up completely.

But hold it right there. Do not look at other options. Do not think about giving up. Do not look back. When something does not turn out the way you want, THE only option you have is to try again. You have no excuse not to.

None. Zero.

I’ve learned it’s best not to look at your failures as failures. You only fail when you choose to give up. That’s why trying one more time is always the ONLY option. From my own experiences in school and with my own pursuits, I know that when you are trying to achieve anything, you will get discouraged. You will face roadblocks, hurdles, and deep valleys. You will face haters, naysayers, fakers, and all people in between. Trust me, I know. But I’m still standing and you’re still standing.

So why give up now?

Seriously, why even contemplate it? You’ve come too far. Trying one more time is always the ONLY option. Your persistence and perseverance are everything in accomplishing anything. That’s something that many of the world’s most successful individuals have taught us, because for some it wasn’t their talent or their intellect that helped them succeed. On the contrary, it was their persistence and perseverance.

Try one more time. If you give up too soon, you’ll never know what you would have missed. Keep going and never quit.
