The Best Beach Resorts in Australasia & Oceania

With Australasia and Oceania being among the most beautiful regions on the planet, it can feel overwhelming to decide where exactly to vacation there. Each island or beachside destination seems as stunning as the next, after all! The good news is that this means you almost can’t go wrong. However, to help simplify things, we do have a few suggestions for, particularly special beach resorts to stay at.

Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort – Fiji

Fiji alone is full of luxury beach resorts, making it particularly difficult to narrow our recommendation down to just one place. After careful consideration, however, we’ve determined it’s just too hard to top the Jean-Michel Cousteau resort. It goes without saying that the scenery at this seaside venue is heavenly. But the real reason for this being the pick is actually the array of activities available to guests. There are opportunities for children, families, couples, and anyone other sort of traveler, meaning it’s not just a cliché to say there’s something there for everybody. Meanwhile, those who like to add a touch of adventure to their holiday relaxation can also take advantage of snorkeling, diving, and kayaking in the immediate area, to name just a few of the more active options.

Thalia Haven – Tasmania

Tasmania might just be one of the coolest places on the planet. Although technically an Australian territory, it feels distinct the moment you arrive. Exploring Tasmania, you can go from lush rain forest, to snow-capped mountain ranges, to white sand beaches over the course of a single! Our favorite spot on this wonderfully diverse island is Thalia Haven, and although it is not necessarily a “resort” in the traditional sense, the luxurious facilities will have you thinking otherwise. With your room likely situated steps away from Oyster Bay, you will wake up each morning to the sound of seagulls chirping and waves crashing. Throw in the fact that the compound is powered entirely by wind and solar energy, as well as that the nearest main road or property is more than two kilometers away, and you’ll truly feel at one with nature. This peaceful isolation is perhaps best enjoyed at our favorite part of Thalia Haven: a simple yet elegant bathtub that sits on a deck overlooking the water. In this isolated a setting, you can take an outdoor bath in total privacy and feel as if the world around you is entirely your own.

The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs – New Zealand

Our favorite part about this lodge located in Northland is the surrounding tropical rain forest. The best way to enjoy this scenery is at the lodge’s spa, where you can be fully immersed in nature while still experiencing a variety of luxurious treatments. We’d also suggest that despite being a little less visible, this lodge tops the gaudier, city-based resorts and casinos that can take center stage when you look for luxury accommodations in New Zealand. The main perks at those spots are fancy, comfortable rooms – which you can of course enjoy at Kauri Cliffs – and in some cases casino entertainment, which you can actually enjoy online no matter where you stay anyway. Extensive online gambling options in New Zealand mean there’s very little reason to favor a resort just for a casino, unless you’re a true enthusiast. And considering more unique factors – surroundings, nearby activities like golf, kayaking, and fishing, and the uniqueness of t he property itself – the Lodge wins out.

Four Seasons Bora Bora – French Polynesia

Bora Bora is one of those places that everyone has probably heard of at some point, or even looked through picture of, without realizing exactly where it is or how to get there. But doesn’t this make it all the more exotic? The island is in fact in French Polynesia, smack in the middle of the South Pacificc. And without a doubt the best beach resort on Bora Bora is the Four Seasons. The resort is built around a natural, crystal-blue lagoon, with bungalows over the water serving as the top accommodation options. Some of these bungalows even have their own private pools, making them perfect for honeymoons or other romantic getaways. And if you want to keep your entire holiday on the water, keep in mind that this resort also has a spa facility built in the fashion of the bungalows!
