Wouldn’t it be nice to travel around your city with an electronic bike that you could simply check out with an app?
Well, bike-sharing just got easier.
SPIIN is an eco-friendly bike that allows you to ride at 20 mph within a range of 30 miles. According to its creators, the bike is lighter than most; never releases any emissions; and can be tracked on your phone. And most importantly, this creation is part of a new electric bike-sharing system.
“The goal is to revamp the bike-sharing industry into the 21st Century,” SPIIN CEO Adham Yusupov told RIZZARR. “Our goal is to really make an alternative motor transportation for urban cities and even suburbs.”

SPIIN launched earlier this year in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. Upon its release, it gained a lot of traction right outside of the nation’s capitol in Fairfax, Virginia. The city’s mayor, R. Scott Silverthorne, even took a ride on the bike to show his support for its eco-friendly advantages.

CEO Yusupov said helping the environment is one the main reasons why he and his two colleagues decided to create the bike two years ago: “We wanted to offset many environmental issues in cities, like congestion, parking, and more. This bike is helping the environment by reducing the amount of vehicles on the road.”

So how does the bike work?
It uniquely integrates with its mobile app. Riders simply use the app to locate the nearest SPIIN bike and then rent it for as long as they wish – without the hassle of docking stations.
Yusupov believes since the bike has a price point of around $2,000, it can appeal to those of his generation and directly compete with bikes already on the market. Additionally, the bike has major differentiators, including its warranty, high-grade aluminum material, and its sleek design.
“It is a sleek looking bike,” he said, “We took in a lot of feedback to take make its design. We wanted it to be the Tesla of biking.”

As for the future of SPIIN, Yusupov is all about expanding its bike-sharing system across the country: “Though we are starting off locally here in the D.C. area, we are [now] also working on partnerships with other metropolitan areas and resorts.”
Looking back, he said starting the company wasn’t easy. But, he always reminded himself of four inspirational words, “You can do it.”
He hopes his journey can inspire you.
