Someday, when you are able to help someone… will you do it?

Imagine how different the world would be if each of us used our lives and the challenges that we have overcome to help others who are facing them.

Lately, I have begun focusing on this idea of impact…how one person can truly change someone’s life. After watching the video below, I began to think about it even further. It changed my entire perspective on giving and I’ll admit, it even made me cry a little.

During the video, at one point, a man buys and gives a cake to a little girl whose grandmother couldn’t afford to purchase it for her. Immediately, her grandmother asks the man for his address so that she can repay him for his generosity. But, he does not give it to her. Instead, he asks the little girl to do him a favor:

“Promise me something, okay? Someday, when you are able to help someone… will you do it?”

As the man leaves, the little girl stares deeply at him and later nods her head, signaling that she would.

Just think about this scene for a moment.

Then, take a moment to think about the difficult moments that you have gone through in your life and how you felt as you were going through them. Now, think about how you can help someone who might be going through your same previous situations.

Could you imagine how different the world would be if each of us used our lives and the challenges that we have overcome to help others who are facing them? What a different world that we would live in… what a giving and charitable world that we would live in each day of the year.

Sometimes all it takes is a simple act of yours to change someone’s life entirely. Remember, a simple act of caring creates an endless ripple that comes back to you. We need to always pay it forward.

So now I want to leave you with this one question: “Someday, when you are able to help someone… will you do it?”
