Planning Goals For The New Year? This Life Advice From Steve Jobs Might Help

The year is coming to an end- shortly.

And although it is, I have to ask you: Would you change anything about this year? Is there anything that you wish you would have pushed yourself to try?

Many of us tend to live our lives in the lines, never crossing over. We tend to go with the flow, accepting things as they are, knowing deep inside that things could be different…that we could do so much more with our lives if we had the courage to do so.

Deep down, we also know that if we only had the courage to try new things, to push ourselves outside of our fear… to truly live, we could do so much more with our lives and even greatly impact the world.

As you think about your year and your goals for next year, I want to you watch this video below in which the legendary Apple founder Steve Jobs talks about what he came to realize about life and how we can use our lives to change the world. Listen carefully.

Jobs: “When you grow up you tend to get told that the world is the way it is and you’re life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family life, have fun, save a little money. That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it. You can build your own things that other people can use. And the minute that you understand that you can poke life and actually something will, you know if you push in, something will pop out the other side, that you can change it, you can mold it. That’s maybe the most important thing. It’s to shake off this erroneous notion that life is there and you’re just gonna live in it, versus embrace it, change it, improve it, make your mark upon it.”

I hope his advice encourages you to live your life not just for you, but in an effort to help others and to positively change the world. Make it apart of your New Year’s resolutions. Cheers.
