I’m excited to write my first article and begin my journey on RIZZARR! Two of my great passions are music and mindfulness. I joined #DSONextGen two years ago with the goal of getting out to more concerts.
My love for classical has grown and I’ve now seen so many amazing performers but the one thing I never miss at The Max is Om. Yoga with live music. Anything from a quarter to a DJ to percussionists. It’s an amazing experience! I’m not an everyday yogi and this class doesn’t make me feel bad about that fact. I can go in and focus on my practice and there’s no shame in that. Each class envokes a different emotion. I remember the first time I went to a class, I went by myself. A quartet played and the floor was wall to wall mats. Well, you know what I mean.
People you could tell really felt a sense of well, zen. I leave each class feeling so refreshed and so ready to go home and make a new playlist. Sometimes I perk up in the class because I can recognize a tune I’ve played or heard at previous concerts. I have to say my favorite class was a Yin class with live percussion. And even though it was in such a large space, the music made it feel so intimate. Having never taken a Yin class before, I didn’t know what to expect. The first half of the class was similar to a typical vinyasa flow, nice and upbeat. The second half of the class was the best; getting to hold restorative posses while relaxing and listening to the sound filling the C.U.B.E.
I imagine something similar will take place tomorrow night at Mysteriumand it’s not too late to snag tickets!
Mysterium is a multi-sensory event hosted by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. It will be an unforgettable night, I’m sure.
The concept for Mysterium was inspired by the late Russian composer Scriabin’s quest to create an experience for the audience that engages all five senses to create a state of enlightenment. Following last year’s sold-out inaugural event, Mysterium will feature DSO musicians performing in three unique settings for an exhilarating musical experience.
Cocktail hour starts at 6 p.m. followed by a performance at 7 p.m., which will take the audience through several spaces. Ticket prices change the day of the events so definitely check out the link below for more details. Hope to see you there! You can register for Mysterium by clicking here.
