I Know Many Of Us Are Still In Shock, But We Have To Find A Way To Move Forward

Clearly, many of us did not see this coming. AT ALL. You know… Donald Trump actually becoming the President of America, the great country of the free world? YEAH…

This election has continued to be a nightmare to which I would like to wake up from — right now. Sadly, that’s not happening.

I just find it so crazy that the majority of Millennials who voted ACTUALLY voted for Clinton, as the map above clearly demonstrates. Yet, with adding in the votes of the entire U.S. population and the votes of the Electoral College, Trump is now our President. This is reality, not a nightmare.

I think most of us would agree that we just want a President who we don’t have to worry will harshly bully someone; will cuss in front of our children; will make people literally scared to live in our great country; and who will not cause us anxiety. We want someone we can look up to and have other countries admire. Someone who we believe definitely has our best interest at heart.

Many throughout the country are scared that this is not the case. It’s like a huge weight is on our shoulders. We’re still processing this. Still processing how did this happen, and not only that, but asking each other, what does the future hold for our country?

I’ve had friends crying to me today. People telling me they’re scared to live in America, and they’re looking at leaving the country while Trump is in office. Others just in utter shock, not able to even get through the day.

I admit I was one of these people who struggled to get through the day. Waking up this morning to the results, the only way I could cope was to go back to sleep, hoping when I wake up this would be just a nightmare.

Clearly, it wasn’t. And now, I’m still struggling with watching the news at this very moment. Still in shock. Still in disbelief.

But I keep telling myself to push forward and to stay calm. I think this is the only way forward for all of us. We have to be united, stay strong, and keep pushing forward, believing that everything will be OK. Let’s all come together during this period and be more united now than ever before.
