7 Of The Most Meaningful Ideas On How To Lead A Body-Positive Life

Originally, I was going to write a piece about ways to have a body-positive spring break. I know this is something many of us need to be reminded of, especially when we’re planning to enjoy some fun in the sun with our friends in swimsuits or other warm-weather clothing.

But for some reason, I couldn’t. I realized that having a body-positive mindset is not only something to strive for during spring break, but it’s especially something to strive for after it.

You can try to feel confident in your body and put on a happy face during spring break. But after break, that’s usually when the harmful thoughts and behaviors can take over. From my own personal experiences, I know that spring break is when the triggers can start to happen and will continue, especially after this special week of fun and sun has passed.

Over the years, what I’ve realized is that the journey towards overcoming the negative thoughts we have about our bodies and ourselves has to be something that we embrace every single day of our lives. So here are my seven ways for how to have a body-positive life after spring break:

1. Know the journey is constant.

Becoming who you are and feeling happy with your body is a constant journey of discovery. It’s a discovery of loving yourself and embracing all of what you may consider to be your imperfections.

2. Focus on taking care of yourself.

You cannot be your best self without practicing mindfulness, self-awareness, positive thinking and positive exercise. All of these are necessary, particularly at different points of our lives.

3. No blame game.

It’s easy to blame yourself for anything that you don’t like about yourself. But playing the blame game doesn’t solve anything. It’s a waste of energy, waste of positive thinking and just a waste of time. Do what you can and love who you are, for who you are.

4. Recognize where you are.

Look at the person who you have become and be happy being that person in this moment of your life. Be proud of that.

5. Recognize what you’ve overcome.

Also, be proud of all of the battles and things that you overcame to become who you are. This will help you to enjoy the journey you are on and to have more body-positive thoughts.

6. Believe in who you can become.

Nothing can ever be achieved without first believing that it can be. To become your best self and to embrace who you are at every moment, have great hopes and aspirations for who you believe you can ultimately become.

7. It’s up to you.

Know that you are the only person in control of your journey, who you are and who you can be. Your positive thoughts and your life are in your hands. Make the most of it.
