Am I Good Enough? Yes, You Are And Here’s Why

We live in a society in which we are often criticized.

We are made to feel unworthy if we are not rich, beautiful or handsome or even famous. We are also made feel that we aren’t good enough if we can’t meet certain expectations or ‘what is required’ of us.

Unfortunately, overtime the negative thoughts associated with these can embed themselves into our daily lives, harshly pushing down our self-esteem and our self-worth. More and more, I’ve noticed through news reports that this cycle especially happens to youth. And sadly, studies have revealed that negative actions done by a person’s peers during his or her youth can impact one’s self-esteem for years.

When we are young, our self-esteem can be completely broke when our peers bully us, cast us aside or make us feel as if we are not good enough. Sadly, this has prompted youth in many instances to become deeply depressed…. often to the point where they are harming themselves through cutting; killing their peers; or taking their own lives.

But, what I’ve realized is that there is a way for every one of us to stop this negative trajectory from starting, and even continuing.

It all comes down to these two notions: We must live the principle of treating each other the way that we want to be treated.

We must begin to change our personal thoughts about ourselves. Understand that it’s our thoughts that become our reality. It’s a notion that’s inevitable. Therefore, we must unswervingly begin to think highly of ourselves; to get involved in our passions to give us a sense of purpose; and to begin to love who we are.

Additionally, we need to wholeheartedly believe that we are good enough, beautiful/ handsome enough, talented enough and worthy. Ultimately, when we start to really believe in positive perceptions about ourselves, those ideas become our reality.
