RIZZARR INTERVIEW

Williams started United Christian Women when she was only 20-years-old and now it is changing lives all across the world! You clearly are never too young to start to fulfill your purpose!

1. What prompted you to start this organization?

My experiences as a young, Christian woman in college prompted me to create an organization that I was truly passionate about. I wanted to be associated with an organization that would value the things that I value most – my Christian faith and morals, academic excellence, community service, building healthy friendships, and providing encouragement and inspiration to embrace who I am as a young, Christian woman.

2. What were some of your own personal struggles that you had in developing the organization?

I had a hard time identifying exactly where I fit in on the college campus. I didn’t want to sacrifice my morals and values, but I didn’t want to be a part of the “outcast” either. I wanted to be proud of who I am, inspire others who feel the same, and also be inspired by others. However, the only option that I found remotely close to this was a campus bible study – of which I was a member of at least 3 different groups. I desired to have the social atmosphere that other groups had, but maintain the Christian values. I resorted to having my small group of bible study friends that I would hang out with or I would travel home to be with my family and church friends. At times, I felt depressed (or defeated) because I just couldn’t find what I was looking for…..then I saw that many other women didn’t have a similar support network, which may be the primary reason why so many students decided to side with what was “popular” – regardless of what it represented.

3. What need was your organization fulfilling?

It allows Christian women around the world to connect with other Christian women who are passionate about their relationship with God. It is a global social, support network of women who are seeking well-roundedness in life. We don’t want to be narrowly focused on one area…we are women of God who are striving to keep God first and be smart, successful, charitable, connected, and confident in who God has created us to be. We uplift and encourage one another through the social community that we have created. We support one another through our social network, events, programs, and social media outlets.

Williams says the non-profit has completely changed her life and her relationship with God! She hopes to encourage other women to have a personal relationship with God.

4. Do you think that young girls have enough positive role models in society that encourage them to have morals and keep their beliefs?

No. It has always been more attractive to do what is provocative or trendy…to go against the grain. It is tempting and it sells. It is challenging for people to embrace the positive. We are human and we’re attracted to things that grab our attention. However, I do believe that if enough people stand strong and proud in what they believe in, more people will realize that it is “cool” and “ok” to be who God created you to be and truly embrace it without feeling “left behind” by society.

6. Are you trying to encourage young women to keep their morals and why?

I am trying to encourage women to not only keep their morals, but embrace who God has called them to be and be confident and proud of that. I am very passionate about doing this, because it is something that I have struggled with and experienced first-handedly. As I have grown to embrace my faith and God-given abilities, I realize that I am a much better person than chasing what the world wants me to be. I am more comfortable. I am happy! Christianity is not about being perfect, but knowing that amidst our imperfections our Lord and Savior is looking out for and guiding us. God is my anchor and I know that I am successful because of what He has done in my life.

Thousands of women all over the world are getting united and you should too!

7. What are you hoping to show women through your organization?

I am hoping to show women – of all ages – that you are a precious gem! No matter your age, race, denomination, socioeconomic background, you are a precious gem. Even if you haven’t embraced a specific religion or you don’t attend church regularly, you are a precious gem. God loves all of us. Embrace who God has created you to be, keep Him first in your life, be the best person you can be, and love yourself.

8. How can the media change and help promote better role models for young women?

I think the media should continue to show examples of people who embrace their faith. Most recently, Tim Tebow and Jeremy Lin have expressed their faith in God and their desire to live for Him. This is a positive step in the right direction. It shows young people that you can be tremendously successful AND faithful to God. I hope and pray that the media will embrace people who want to showcase their faith (instead of their bodies). I also hope that the media and the general public will begin to respect people for their boldness to stand out of the crowd in this way!

9. What can society do to promote better role models for women and encourage women to keep their morals?

Show them that it’s cool! You can do so many things and have a relationship with God. It’s not boring, unattractive, or weird. Its great to believe in God and embrace who He created you to be. I hope that more individuals take a stand in society and show their confidence in embracing their faith.

10. Is there any advice that you would give to those trying to fulfill the dreams that God has planted in them?

You can be beautiful, smart, successful, and God-fearing!!! Keep God first in everything. Get United and join United Christian Women. Were here to support you in this journey 🙂 Love and blessings to everyone!
