Pushing yourself over your limits is vital for personal growth, today we are going to discuss some of the things that you can work on to improve your progress.
Mindset
Mindset is everything. If you go into a task with a bad attitude, you can be sure that you will fail it. You have to believe that you can do the task in order to pour everything you have into it. When we face hardships the first thing we want to do is give up, you cannot follow this train of thought, for it will only lead to a status quo. You will never be able to grow as a person if you don’t believe that you can do what you set out to do. Remember, the harder the task is – the more worth it the endeavor becomes. Use other people as examples of this. Do you think that most movie stars, musicians, and officials got where they are because they quit at the first sight of hardship? Heck no, and neither should you! If you lack self-esteem, fake it. By faking it, you are bound to replicate the same effects it has, work on your confidence as well. If you can boost these two things, then your job becomes a whole lot easier.
Reach for the Unknown
Staying in the same space constantly leads to stagnation. If you want to achieve personal growth then you have to venture into the unknown. Think of it as an adventure from which only good can come. Even if you fail, it’s okay, because you can at least say that you tried your best and uncovered a new experience as a result of it.
Take More Than You Think You Can
Our mind likes to play tricks on us, you will usually think that you are at your limits way before you have actually reached them. This is just going further than you are used to, and it is critical to not give up at this point. Don’t get stuck within your comfort zone, later you will hate yourself for not being able to grow even though you are seemingly doing your best.
Inspire Yourself
Inspiration is the first cog in the machine that gets us going. You need to find inspiration in a certain task in order to want to do it. Think of the benefits of completing the task and whether it’s worth the effort put into it. If you can’t find any inspiration at first, keep trying, branch out on different things, and try to find a reason to get yourself going. The start is the hardest step in any task.
Find Someone to Support You
Sometimes the thing that can propel you forward is encouragement, whether it was from a co-worker, friend, or family member. When things get tough, it is critical to know that you are not alone and that you can get through it (yes, it sounds cliché, but it’s being repeated for a reason – It’s true!). They can be there as a counter-balance for any negative thoughts that you have and help you get back on your feet. You can also seek professional assistance with Diane Demetre.
Work on Your Weaknesses
We are all different. As humans, we all have different strengths and weaknesses, it falls upon you to recognize these factors and deal with them. Don’t take every article you read on how to deal with personal weaknesses as law. Take them as considerations. At the end of the day, only you know what’s best for you, and if you can deal with it. Ignoring a problem won’t make it go away, so don’t ignore your weaknesses!
Get Hyped for the Task
Mentality going into a task is important. Nobody wants to do a task which they consider boring, useless, a waste of time, etc. If you can get yourself hyped up for the task ahead, it will serve as a bouncing point to make sure you can smoothly complete the task at hand. Just remember, inspiring yourself is primarily used to get yourself to start doing a new and hard task, hype is mainly used to get you through it.
Learn From Losses
In order to truly improve it is vital to take a look back on what you did wrong. Nobody is perfect, that is a fact. We all make mistakes, but it is how we handle them that shapes us. If you are capable of looking back on your mistakes and keep growing, then you are already heading towards becoming the best possible you that you can be.
Limitations
We like to think of excuses on why we fail (or even worse, not even try). Sometimes it really is due to circumstances. It can be family, education, even friends that all pose limitations on our ambitions. However, you mustn’t allow these circumstances to hamper your growth.
