The holidays are just around the corner.
For many of us, that means school is out and the time to recharge has come. Let’s not let this time of cheer go to waste. With the festive season, it becomes easy to forget to create and reach goals. Christmas parties and Netflix marathons are wonderful, but there are some things I recommend doing during the holidays to continue to live a better lifestyle.
Since you may be tucked away in the library to finish up finals, when you are done, you are free to see your family and hometown friends again. And don’t worry. Despite popular belief, they haven’t nor will they forget about you. Designate a day to go out with you family and do something special. Whether it is taking a road trip, going out to the park, or finding a new restaurant, it’s extremely important to use this break to spend time with those you do not see as often due to distance and school. They will have missed you just as much as you have missed them.
Another idea to do over the holiday season is to use some time to work with an organization or charity. You know what they say, this is the season of giving. Take time to give back to those in need. I suggest serving in a soup kitchen or lending a hand at an animal shelter. An even better idea is to bring friends or family and make it a bonding experience.
Lastly, use this much-needed break to just breathe…
Be alone for a little while. Whether that is for a few hours or a few days, being alone can really clear your mind and put you in the right place to take on the New Year. Listen to this Spotify playlist curated by RIZZARR to ease your mind.
Just because school and work is on break does not serve as an excuse to slip in striving for a better lifestyle. I hope everyone uses these suggestions to so their holiday is filled with family, happiness and clarity.
