Be A Tree of Life: Stand Tall In Your Faith

When I was of the world and in my sin, I adapted and found a liking to “body-art” better known as tattoos.

As I went back and forth with my battle to give my life to Christ or to the world, I began to find an interest in trees. I desired to get a tattoo of a tree. However, this tree was one that only had barren branches. There was no color nor were there any leaves, regardless of the season. According to the world, this type of tree symbolized the “tree of life.”

I choose to give Christ my life completely and not get that tattoo. Whew! Am I happy that I did not get that permanent symbol. Why?

Our Bible tells us in the book of Psalm 1:3: “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, which brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”The enemy wants to plant in our minds that we are barren, fallow, unproductive, and dull. If he can plant this in our minds then we walk in disbelief with God thus chasing after the things of the world to fill this void of feeling barren, unproductive, dull, and/or fallow. Consider that state of being unproductive. It is in unproductivity that Satan keeps us from moving forth in the things of God. For example, if we lay at home all day jobless, remaining isolated, and never applying ourselves, how can we get to a place of productivity? I dare you to believe for vegetation.

So, what’s the importance of being like a tree? Well, trees do not plant themselves; but rather they are planted. Genesis 2:9 tells us, “The LORD God made all sorts of trees grow up from the ground—trees that were beautiful and that produced delicious fruit…” In that same manner, sinful people do not transport themselves into the kingdom of God; but rather they are offered salvation through God’s grace.

Also, trees represent strength and durability which is why they remain standing during the passing of each season. In the snow storms, rain storms, and even wind storms, we may bend, but God did not equip for us to break! As the tree stands there strong and of good courage that it will withstand the storms, we, too, must learn to continue to stand and faint not in the times of adversity and hardship! Just as the fruit shall harvest in due season, so shall the fruit of our labor in the kingdom of God produce joy and prosperity among us all. I dare you to stand.

God instructed us as kingdom people in Genesis 9:7, “Be fruitful and multiply”. As long as we remain in the will of God and diligently seek His face, we cannot be without fruit. If feelings of inadequacy or barrenness try to come over you, I declare you to inspect your branches! For the word tells us that a good tree cannot produce bad fruit and a bad tree cannot produce good fruit. If your tree is barren, I DARE you to examine your roots and see where they have been established from! When you inspect your fruit and are aware what of the fruit that is being produced, you can then become aware of the proper tools needed to water that specific fruit so that it may grow bigger and stronger, as well as more abundantly. You cannot be an apple tree, and produce peaches.

Be the tree that God has planted and designed for you to be, for there is NOTHING impossible with the strength of God on your side! I dare you to trust God.

I Am A Tree; I Will Obey Thee. I Am A Tree; I Will Stand On Thee. I Am A Tree; An Obediently Standing Tree Simply Made By Thee.
