Why We Need To Overthrow The Shattering Of Our Dreams

I  am always inspired by the human spirit of creativity and perseverance.

Everywhere I look nowadays, I see someone starting their own business, charity, or next important venture. And I think it’s wonderful. The internet has afforded us many liberties-one of them the ability to voice our opinions freely, and let our imaginations literally run wild with how we intend to impact the world. But it has also given some people the public means to hate openly and unapologetically.

I am continuously shocked by some of the vitriol that is aimed at any one who dares to dream. Perfect strangers feel justified in denigrating another person’s character or idea, simply because they don’t agree with it. It’s a difficult pill to swallow, and a sad commentary on a society that simultaneously builds people up, only to tear them down, bit by bit, insult by insult.

I could ask, “Why can’t we all just get along?”

I know that’s overly naive and simplistic. I’m not such a Pollyanna as to think everything is rainbows and flowers. But I will ask this: why do we feel the need to dash another’s dreams?

In a world where a little girl dreams of going to school even after they has been shot; in a world where boys are forced to become soldiers to a war they didn’t start; in a world where about 2.5 million people are sold as slaves in international trafficking… don’t we have more important battles to wage? Do we really even have the energy to tear each other a part when there are so many people who are crying for our attention?

Instead, if we each pledged to reach down and help the next person up the ladder of success, just think of what we could accomplish. As we struggle to find our place in this chaotic world of ours, take a moment to look around… Is there anyone who could use your help?

Realize there is no greater satisfaction in helping another achieve their wildest dreams. There is no greater purpose than to push through the fog, silence the naysayers, lend a hand to a fallen dreamer and raise them up higher than they ever expected…
