I have no words for my country
Not sure of the words exactly…
What to say to help us heal
This tragedy to our country is so crazy,
I kept thinking this can’t be real
Orlando, Orlando, this terrible tragegy has impacted us all
We’re all praying and crying for you to stand tall
We’re here for you, feeling the pain, left without words
Praying to God for peace, justice, some love to occur
But it keeps hitting me
Inside, I feel it, can’t seem to speak what I want to say
How could the world completely change in a single day?
The number of deaths keep adding up and I can’t seem to keep track
The number of families and loved ones impacted, too many lives by such an unthinkable act
Seeing the tears and pleas
Brought me to tears and to my knees
Brought me to writing this, asking us all to see
See that hate never solves,
it only divides us all as much as can be
We shouldn’t discriminate, hurt, cause terror, or make others fall
We each are connected,
One action affects us all
They leave us all speechless and unfathomably numb
The pain, the heartache, it seems too much to bear
Especially seeing a mom realize her child will never again be there
Every time I turn around, there’s another one it seems
People putting forth hate, terror, anything mean
What is wrong with people?
Don’t they realize we all are connected, intertwined in fact
You shooting one life, makes us all feel the lack
Lives so precious, with so much meaning to many around
Lives taken too soon to have to go six feet underground
I have no words,
The destruction, the hate, the evil done by their hands
We all are left to question, trying to understand
How can we replace evil with love and move forward for change?
How do we change what’s happening and become more humane?
How do we pick up the pieces of everything that’s lost?
How do we get rid of the evil ideologies that are false?
The hope, the peace, the grace from above
I believe it exists on earth and within
But we’re the ones who have to bring it forth and let it begin
We have to be the change, like Gandhi once said
We have to love, never hating instead
Let us create this change, heal wounds, and help one another
Let us see the boy down the street or across the world as our brother
Let us be unto others as we would want them to be to us
Let us not walk in evil, but instead, love, humanity, and trust.
