When you look at your life, you’ll discover something pretty interesting: it has been full of defining moments. Destiny moments really.

Moments of hope. Moments of despair. Moments when one move on your part could have changed your life forever. And it’s these defining moments that shape who we become. Here are 11 moments that I believe can define our lives, if we allow them:

1. Facing “failure” when trying to fulfill a dream

It can heighten your belief in yourself and thwart you into greatness…or stop you. Just ask Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton about her secret failure, which just became known. (Notice the quotations around failure because there is really no such thing; everything happens for you.)

2. Deciding whether to believe in yourself or to believe in someone else

It can be the very thing that can make a remarkable impact, as it did for Thomas Edison. Read this:

4. Being rejected from an opportunity

You can allow it to stop from continuing to go after your dreams or you can allow that rejection to drive you to fulfill it. Just ask renowned actress Meryl Streep, who was rejected from one of her first auditions. She has since received 19 Oscar nominations. Here’s what she said about the rejected in Facebook post, below:
