Success: Why It’s The One Thing Everybody Seems To Want, But Not Everybody Gets

What’s the one thing that everybody wants, but not everybody gets? It seems to be…

Success. Success.

Success.

Mostly everybody wants to be successful in what it is that they love to do. They like the fulfillment that comes with it. They like the financial freedom that comes with it. They like the joy that comes with it.

But what I’ve found is that as much as everybody is searching for how to be successful and as much as success is urgently wanted by our society, not everyone is willing to do the work to actually attain it. Funny huh? It reminds of that Britney Spears song, “Work B**ch”. Anything you want, you got to work for it. You got to give up today, what could be for tomorrow. You have to be willing to sacrifice.

See the thing is, everybody wants to be successful. Everybody. I couldn’t imagine why you wouldn’t want to be. But how many people are doing the work to get there? How many people are willing to sacrifice for it? How many people are willing to persistently go after their dream to make it become their reality? Not many. But that’s what it takes to be successful. That’s what it takes to reach the measure of success that many of us want.

Unfortunately, many of us won’t become successful in making our dreams become our reality. Success doesn’t fall into anyone’s lap. It takes work. It takes passion. It takes drive. It takes an undying commitment. It takes giving it everything you’ve got. But out of all of these, I think it takes the utter belief in one’s self that allows a person to step into doing the work and all of the things necessary to reach the level of successful that they aspire to reach. I think Taylor Swift made this clear in her Grammy’s acceptance speech for best album of the year:

Still not over Taylor Swift's epic acceptance speech last night (the shade, though)

She said this in her speech: “There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success, or take credit for your accomplishments, or your fame, but you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday where you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and YOU will know that it was YOU and the people who love YOU who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world.”

You go girl. She’s right. It will be the greatest feeling the world when you realize that you have everything in you needed to reach the level of success that you want. Everything. But you must be willing to do what it takes to get there. You must be willing to work hard as well as to surround yourself with people who believe in you and lift you higher. Make the decision that you are not going to be one of those people who half’s it. You are going to obtain the one that thing everybody wants. You are going to be one those committed people who feel fulfilled and glad that you did everything you knew it took to succeed at what it was that you wanted to do.
