“Count yourself blessed every day… and you will find yourself living in a world of blessings.”
Those are the words on a refrigerator magnet that I have. I’ve seen the magnet all the time. But recently, seeing its words made me pause and take a moment to reflect. Being that it is the Season of Gratitude, I believe this probably made me connect with its words deeper than I normally have.
I began to realize that we all need to grateful for every single day and all of the little things that it entails. This is something that a friend of mine has always reminded me of during my difficult moments :).
But I think it rings true even for good moments. We should never take our blessings and life for granted. Yet, many of us get some caught up in the day-to-day hustle, leaving out moments of gratitude and reflection in our lives.
Honestly, I don’t think a person has to be religious to see life as a blessing. I think regardless of a person’s religious background, having a grateful attitude will help anyone enjoy it and be grateful for all of its wonderful experiences and people more. It’s then that we are able to really live and recognize things as they really are, rather than focusing on our feelings about them.
Additionally, we know not only is it the Season of Gratitude, but it is also the Season of Giving. It’s funny how they say when you give, you actually become happier and feel like you are leading a more meaningful life. I think that’s really true. In our society, many tend to be selfish, grasp onto everything in order to keep themselves happy. I bet if they would try giving more, they would realize that actually makes them feel happier and like they are making a difference. That’s the way to live not only during this time of year or on Thanksgiving, but every single day whenever you can. Giving can transform your life.
As you reflect on these ideas, I hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family, that you remember the true reasons for the season, and that you embrace having a giving and thankful attitude every day of the year. To give you some more inspiration on having a thankful and giving attitude, here are some quotes below.
