Everybody wants the dream, however, few will put in the work to actually achieve it.
One saying that particularly rings to my mind as I am writing this is: ”For every 10 dreamers, there is only 1 doer.” Yes, I know it is not grammatically or “journalistically” correct to write out numbers less than 10. But in this case, I think it is necessary to point out this distinction between the “doers” in the world and the “dreamers” in the world.
It’s easy to dream. But making that dream come to pass comes with a whole lot more. You can’t get anywhere in life, if you aren’t committed to the process of getting to where it is that you want to go…

Then, there are those who want to be involved in the dream, but they don’t want to commit to helping to make it come to pass. It’s like the Little Red Hen story. These people show up once all the work is done. But that’s not fair. Here again, these types of people are dreamers, not doers.
Being a doer comes with a whole lot of baggage that most can’t fathom of even trying to cope with doing. It takes a ridiculously, sickening work ethic; people thinking you are crazy; you, yourself, thinking that sometimes you are crazy; people not supporting you; people rejecting you; sometimes your dragging the wagon uphill alone; lots of tears; lots of days with lack of sleep; an unrelenting determination to see the dream come to pass; and most importantly, a feeling of pure happiness and fulfillment once it is achieved.
But when most people hear all of this stuff that comes with going after a dream, they immediately say, “Nevermind.” And I don’t blame them.
Making a dream become a reality takes a ridiculous amount of faith, belief, and a determination to never, ever give up. You have to wholeheartedly believe in your vision and make every single effort you can to make it come to pass. It’s hard. Luckily, however, many have shown that with faith, hard work, and persistence, anything is possible.
So I do hate it when people blame everything under the sun for the reason as to why they cannot commit to their dream. It’s like, how bad do you want it? How much are you willing to sacrifice in the process? And how committed are you?
Your commitment to this dream is everything, because you are the only one who can make it come to pass. It’s your dream and so it depends on your effort.
I have never heard of a person who truly sacrificed and did not have their dream come to pass in the end. Maybe there are some cases, but I do believe that if one does not quit, eventually the tide will turn. Many have shown this to be true, like Tyler Perry, Sylvester Stallone, J.R. Rowling, Walt Disney, and more. All of these “dreamers” were true “doers.” Despite the challenges, lack of support, and unfulfilled attempts, they did not stop on the pursuit of achieving the dream that was placed inside of them.
I think dreams are beautiful. They allow us all to individually and uniquely contribute something amazing to the world. But if you don’t commit to it, then what’s the point of having a dream?
Don’t be a dreamer. Be a doer.
