What is it that you are seeking in this life?
Who do you aspire to be? What are those thoughts that plague or assuage you at night, when you’re all alone under the covers, earbuds popped into your ears and thoughts swimming in your head like goldfish in a fishbowl?
Do you feel scared? Do you feel at peace? Do you wonder if you’re meeting the expectations you’ve placed on yourself? Do you even place expectations on yourself? Or better yet, do you follow the expectations placed on yourself from others, eager to feel their fullness?
I know I’ve tried, scooped up every last morsel on the plate, only to feel sick from eating too much. I’ve tried to fit everyone else’s desires into my own little treasure box– happy to pull them out on-demand. You see, I was too afraid of my own achievement to know the difference.
I decided to stop.
Be aware that your own achievement is more spectacular, more fulfilling, more worthy of you and worthwhile to your time than anything else you could ever imagine. Who you are is not to be compromised by the impressions or conceptions of those around you. Of course, help is needed and necessary at times. Those that boast the most impressive accolades have received some kind of help, big or small, at some point in their journey.
But here’s the thing: You already are who you’re trying to be.
You already have all the tools necessary to be whole, to be well; and to feel full with the certainty of self and the promise of highest achievement. Bask in the glory of you and know that no one else can do it better. Indeed, realize that you are singularly you, ordained by all the divine energies of the universe to be humanly present in this exact point in time to make some contribution, big or small, to this earthly place we call home.
Trust, know, and believe that everything you want, everything you need, and everything you are struggling for at this present moment has already been given to you. It is your task to accept and acknowledge the gift, and give appreciation in the form of living your truest, fullest self.
