Let’s start by saying New Year’s isn’t that only day that is full of promise.
The whole rest of the year is too.
With this in mind, here is how you should start off the year:
“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Then ask yourself the important questions.
“If you ask me for my New Year’s Resolution, it would be to find out who I am.” – Cyril Cusack
And if you want to take a minute to think on it, learn about yourself by reaching out to others.
“Accept what people offer. Drink their milkshakes. Take their love.” – Wally Lamb
And if you love those milkshakes…
“Celebrate what you want to see more of.” – Tom Peters
And go to parties when the celebrations are going strong.
“If you want an interesting party sometime, combine cocktails with a fresh box of crayons for everyone.” – Robert Fulghum
This is because…
“Going to a party for me is an much a learning experience as, you know, sitting in a lecture.” – Natalie Portman
Although, if you do opt for the cocktail-crayon extravaganza remember not to drink and drive.
“I never worry about being driven to drink. I just worry about being driven home.” – W. C. Fields
When you do go home start your year off, don’t focus on being perfect.
“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something.” – Neil Gaiman
And don’t be too hard on yourself.
I know. I’m lazy. But I’ve made myself a New Year’s Resolution that I would write myself something very special. Which means I have ‘till December, right?” – Catherine O’Hara
Be happy, healthy, and have a great New Year!
