What It Really Means To Stay True To Yourself

I want to ask you one simple question: Have you been true to yourself lately?

With life’s complications, it’s so easy to lose sight of who you are and who you want to be. But, you need to learn to let go of the barriers and the masks that stop you from being who you are.

Are you wearing a mask everyday?

A mask of self-doubt?

A mask of anger?

Are you hiding behind your fears and insecurities in order to avoid reality – the person you really are? If your answer to any of these questions is “yes”, then you’re not alone. It’s human nature to hide behind a facade when we encounter fear, pain and anger. Life can be tough, and sometimes the best defense mechanism is to put on an act and push aside the real you.

Maybe you’re “wearing a mask” because you’re running from a bad past. Maybe you put on a “tough” exterior to protect a broken heart. The list can go on and on. Whatever the reason may be, I want to motivate you today to take off the mask you’re wearing and be you, because YOU are beautiful. YOU are worthy of love.

YOU are not your past! YOU are not the lies that negative people have fed you! YOU are the only you there is and ever will be, so break free from the lies you call your “identity”. Embrace who you are.

Start reexamining your life so that you can begin to see all the amazing things about you. Stop trying to fit a mold that’s not true to who you are. You were created to leave a beautifully unique footprint on this earth that only you can make. Do us all a favor and take off the mask. Get rid of the costume. Go with the rhythm of your own beat.

Besides, masks are overrated anyways.
