Life’s not easy. It’s full of growing pains. Growing in who you are, growing in patience, growing in responsibility, grow in everything else in between. But you don’t have to let those growing pains get the best of your dreams and believing in yourself.
It feels like as a society, we need to start believing in our dreams again. Millions of people –especially our generation– have given up on pursuing their dreams. They have settled and given up, because life got to hard… the journey towards fulfilling their dreams got to hard. They got too discouraged, too rejected, too burnt out, and too overwhelmed to even hope for their dreams. They have accepted the challenges as the end-all, be-all to their dreams being possible.
I have to admit that I’ve sometimes felt this way. There were times when things have happened to me, and I wondered why. Why me? Why is this happening? But I have come to realize that I shouldn’t ask why me? Instead, I should ask: Why not me? And you should ask: Why not you?
We should be grateful that God chose us to go through each hard time that we must endure. This might be a crazy perspective to have, but I honestly believe that one day when you persevere through your challenges and fulfill your dream, God will use your story to encourage and inspire others, just like you, into realizing their dreams are possible, too.
Life was never meant to be easy, and achieving our dreams was never meant to be easy. I know that might be cliché to say, but these are true. I also know that it’s easy to believe that life should be, and fulfilling our dreams should be easy. Our daydreams and blessings often paralyze us into thinking that life should be smooth sailing. But that’s just not the case. We will face trials and hardships on the way to fulfilling our dream in order to become who we need to be in order to carry out our dream to its full impact. Fulfilling a dream is a process and becoming who we are is large part of that. Everything is all about perception. Challenges help us to grow, and life’s pains can make us a better person if we allow them to do so.
The truth is, the things that we have overcome in the past and the dreams that we have already fulfilled should be reminders for us of what is possible. They should remind us of how good life can be; how the good times are yet to still come; and most of all, why we need to keep our dreams alive. When you look back on what you have accomplished thus far in your life, you should realize that you can achieve anything you dream. You simply must make the decision to believe and to keep your dreams alive.
See the bumps that you encounter on the journey as catalysts. Use them to drive you, to motivate you, and to help you to keep your dreams alive. You cannot give up in hard times. You cannot say, “Woe is me,” and settle. You must rise above them, and keep your dreams alive. You have to believe in yourself and believe your purpose matters; that there is something on this earth which only you can.
Yeah, OK. I know this might be easier for me to write than it is for you to believe, but I hope you find it within yourself to keep your dreams alive. If you don’t give your dreams all you’ve got, you’re only cheating yourself. You’re cheating yourself of what is possible for you. Even when you cannot comprehend that your dreams are possible, just decide to believe that they can happen. Have faith that God will work out everything for your good –even the challenges that you may face. And within time, you will see your once “impossible dream” become your reality.
