The stressing out stops… right now
Yeah, we have so many reasons to be stressed out. But today, it all can stop. If you’re stressing out over certain reasons, we offering you some solutions. And as we offer them to you, we’re also going to be taking our own advice:
1. Creating too high expectations to fulfill in unreasonable time.
The Solution: Reevaluate your expectations. Ask your peers and your managers/family if they’ve also been through the same situation and how they dealt with it. Chances are you’re putting more pressure on yourself than necessary.
2. Leaving everything to the last minute.
The Solution: While it might have worked in college, the real world isn’t as forgiving with sloppy work or missed deadlines. It’s a pain to start early and procrastination gets the best of us. But chunk down what you want to do and maybe you can get a few pieces done earlier and before you realize it, you’re halfway finished.
3. We try to do everything alone.
The Solution: Ask for help. Even if it’s just for venting.
4. Not looking after our health.
The Solution: Everything might be manageable but if you suddenly stop sleeping enough, neglect exercise, and stuff junk in your system, your body will have more added stress than what you were dealing with before. Try to work on those three things.
5. Drama, DrAmA, DRAMA!
The Solution: Avoid it.
6. Things happening outside our control.
The Solution: This is probably one of the hardest because it requires learning to let go. Different people have different tricks to help, such as yoga, meditation, exercise, talking with friends, writing in journals. Try to avoid the more destructive methods of regaining misplaced control like eating disorders, drugs, anger, OCD behaviors, and reckless behaviors.
7. People’s opinions of us… We tend to prioritize people’s opinions of ourselves and not our own.
The Solution: We need to stop thinking about everyone’s ideas of us and follow our own instincts and lives.
8. Paying our finances and our student loans.
The Solution: We always stress out about not having enough money to do this or that. But, maybe we should just get a side job or maybe we should realize that when we don’t have money, we’re learning how to better manage money and what’s important. If you work hard, you will eventually make the money that you want.
9. Relationships that are all over the place.
The Solution: Know, that relationships all come and go. The right one will come around when he or she is supposed to. Until then, laugh at the craziness, make yourself better, and fulfill your own goals and dreams.
10. Time flying (and knowing that we’re only getting older).
The Solution: Don’t worry about this but be excited that it means you’re growing and learning more about yourself. Yeah, getting older is interesting but focus on who you have become, not how time is flying and you feel like you have so much to do. You will get everything done that you want to, as long as you believe.
11. Not knowing when to settle down.
The Solution: Your love life with your partner moves at its own pace, not at the speed your peers, family or even strangers want. When it’s time to “make that commitment” you two will know…and it will be beautiful because you made the decision. Not others.
12. Getting job security and happiness!
The Solution: Times are hard for our generation. You can tell from some of the issues listed above. You may or may not have your dream job now, but the most you can do is FIGHT FOR IT. If you’re worried about your place, take time to think of what you want and how you can get it.
13. Asking for help.
The Solution: If you have to leave work, freelance or call your parents for your help, then you are not weak or a lame. We all need help sometimes and there are people out there who love you and who are willing to help you get through any situation.
14. Dealing with life right now.
The Solution: Where you are is not always where you will be. Know that nothing lasts forever- the good or the bad. The challenges that you are going through today are only shaping you into being a better, stronger person for tomorrow. Every challenge will ultimately lead you to your destiny. Accept and embrace where you are right now. As Robert Brault once stated, “Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.”
Now, it’s your turn to go stress… less. (smile)
